Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass."

— Anton Chekhov

What We Offer

A Typical Day at Acenturi

  • Morning: Breakfast, dedicated workshops in your chosen discipline

  • Afternoon: Group luncheon, open studio time, mentorship, reading, rest, or exploration

  • Evening: Group dinners, performances, readings, and salons

Each day balances structure and spaciousness, offering the rhythm essential to creativity — one that honors both discipline and freedom.

Writing

Explore memoir, fiction, poetry or nonfiction through focused craft talks, generative writing sessions, and one-on-one feedback. Writers develop voice, clarity, and narrative courage in a space that values reflection and insight.

Music

For musicians and composers, Acenturi is an invitation to rediscover music as a living, personal language. Daily coaching, chamber sessions, and creative exploration emphasize both precision and play — with space to develop new work or reimagine the familiar.

Painting

Plein air and studio-based painting in the Tuscan light, daily critique, and guided experimentation. Painters are invited to see with new eyes — in nature, in color, and themselves.

Cross-Disciplinary Dialogue

While you’ll work within your primary discipline, much of Acenturi’s magic happens in the spaces between: a writer in conversation with a violinist, a painter inspired by a line of prose. These moments are seeded intentionally — over dinner, during salons, and throughout the shared rhythm of the week.

Partners & Spouses

Joining one of our workshops doesn’t mean you have to abandon your significant other. Partners and spouses are welcome to remain at the villa during the day and are welcome at group activities. We will be offering group culinary experiences weekly, with cooking classes, wine tastings and the opportunity to learn about typical regional products of Northern Italy like cheeses, olive oils and charcuterie.

The villa has a yoga instructor on staff who will lead group classes each morning, and may be asked to arrange private or other group sessions.

Being in such close proximity to Florence, with its world-class museums, historic neighborhoods, lively crafts, not to mention luxury shopping and outstanding restaurant experiences, partners and spouses are welcome to explore independently or via optional private tours.

The villa is located in the heart of Chianti, with stunning medieval villages, world-famous vineyards and UNESCO World Heritage sites nearby.

There will be a 12 seat Mercedes luxury van shuttle dropping off and picking up daily in Florence, and we can arrange for a tour of regional sites.

“There is nothing like seeing, as if for the first time, objects as they are, not what we think they are.”
