What’s included?

In addition to fifteen hours of group workshop time with the teacher, you will have at least one private session with them. You will have afternoons free to work alone or with others, study or sight-see.

We view dining together as a primary objective, furthering our collective understanding of art and the endeavor of human expression. Cross-disciplinary conversation is not only worthwhile, it is vital to our project.

Your travel from and to Florence Peretola airport or Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence on arrival or departure, scheduled transportation to and from downtown Florence during your stay, a room with private bathroom, all meals and beverages including regional wines and special culinary events like cooking classes, wine tastings and scheduled group outings to historical sites and museums based on group interest.

What’s not included?

Airfare.

Optional experiences like private yoga classes, sightseeing tours or museum tickets when not part of an Acenturi group activity.

Applying

Joining our community is a privilege, and your inclusion is dependent not just on ability or submitted materials, but also on temperament and openness to others’ contributions. Because we’ve seen other workshops ruined by anti-social behaviors, we conduct personal interviews with qualified applicants and carefully review their written personal statements and portfolio materials. Our team spends approximately 3 hours on each application and much more than that in assembling harmonious groups. You might not be selected this year for group balance reasons, but you might fit in perfectly next year.

Code of Conduct

Acenturi can only fulfill its promise and purpose if we remain dedicated to the fundamental value of respect.

Many artistic educational experiences are ruined by competitive and insecure behaviors. All of us must approach our artistic endeavor with humility. Any attendee exhibiting denigratory or negative behaviors or “putting down” another attendee or their work will be ejected without recourse or refund on the sole discretion of the management. Those ejected may not remain at the villa or attend group events.

Pair-bonding while at the workshop is permitted, but should be kept private. Acenturi is a place of artistic focus, so public displays of affection or alienating behavior or “othering” behaviors by couples is discouraged. In the case of a relational situation gone amiss that affects the creative work of either party or others, one or both of the bonding participants may be ejected from the program without recourse or refund on the sole discretion of the management.

Racism, sexism, homophobia and verbal or physical abuse of any kind will not be tolerated. Assessment of each alleged offense is solely in the hands of Acenturi Management and decisions are final. Ejection is immediate and without refunds.

Do you offer scholarships?

We do not offer scholarships at this time. If you are interested in sharing a room with another attendee for a small discount, please let us know. The villa has one suite with five beds, which might be shared, as well as two others with beds that can be separated. If we have enough interest from admitted attendees, we will arrange for remote interviews with prospective roommates.

I’m just a beginner. Can I apply?

Absolutely! While some knowledge and experience is worthwhile and would help you get the most out of our amazing educators, if you are just starting out and have some materials you can share in your application (short stories, drawings, recordings), you could be selected to join our group.

I’m a professional artist. What would I get out of this?

Our educators are expert in teaching to all levels. Even if you’re a pro, spending time with a great teacher is crucial to your development. Whether it’s honing your performance, exploring improvisation, looking at value and chroma shifts moving away from a light source, or really working on saying something with exquisite style, you will benefit from being here. Reinforcing basic principles and the ability to focus on the individual is why we engage in the small group workshop model.

Can I get a fancy room?

We are not currently offering room choice, but if you have a specific desire, please let us know.
